30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 15 “Favorite Gift Shop”

I really should have pluralized a bunch of the categories on the list, because today is yet another hard decision for me.  With that being said, I think I’m going to have to go with favorite gift “shops” instead of just one shop.  So, away we go!

Magic Kingdom- The Emporium is my favorite gift shop there.  It is the largest gift shoppe at Magic Kingdom and has a little bit of everything.  There isn’t a real specific theme to the shop, just a lot of Disney apparel, mugs, Mickey Ears, and general touristy souvenirs. I love to stroll through the Emporium on a hot day to escape the heat for a little while and just check out what they have to offer 🙂

Epcot- Mitsukoshi Department Store, is fabulous.  It is located in the World Showcase’s Japan Pavilion.  It is HUGE and there is a ton to look at.  It has a lot of nick nacks, and is just really fun to check out.  They have a wide assortment of Japanese snacks and candy, which is always fun to try, as well as a spot to purchase sake flights.  Perhaps my favorite part is watching someone pick a pearl!  Click here to read my post (and watch a video) of me picking my pearl in January!

Hollywood Studios- Tatooine Traders is the gift shop at the end of the Star Tours ride.  I LOVE Star Wars, and this gift shop is like geek haven.  I always end up buying a t-shirt for my brother and saving it for his Christmas gift 🙂  Oh and for added fun, build your own lightsaber!

Downtown Disney Disney’s Days of Christmas is located in the Marketplace at Downtown Disney and is a must stop place for me on each trip.  My husband and I have a tree in our living room and all the ornaments are Black, White, Maroon, and Silver (the colors in the room).  It is stunningly beautiful, and every trip we make to Disney, we love to look through this store to find a new ornament for our tree!  It is a little difficult at times to find one that fits the theming of the tree, but that makes each one more special and unique! Tuesday’s Tip- Disney’s Boardwalk

If you’re looking for something to do at Disney on a non-park day be sure to check out Disney’s Boardwalk area.  The Boardwalk Inn is one of Disney’s Deluxe hotels, however there is an entire shopping and dining area themed to the hotel area.  You’ll feel like you’ve taken a trip back to the good old days at the Atlantic City Boardwalk.  A relaxing morning by the pool and then shopping and dining at the boardwalk sound like the perfect non-park Disney experience to me 🙂

Entertainment includes-  Atlantic Dance Hall, Jelly Rolls (piano bar), and live street entertainers

Dining includes- Big River Grille and Brewing Works, Boardwalk Bakery, ESPN Club, Flying Fish Cafe, Trattoria al Forno

Recreation includes- Boardwalk Arcades and Surrey bike rentals

Park Day 5- Back to Epcot

Okay, normally I like to have a day off in between parks, but it didn’t fall like that on this vacation.  So today we are going to sleep in a little bit, head to Downtown Disney for a more relaxed morning, and then head back to Epcot this afternoon.

Extra Magic Hours- Today’s Extra Magic Hours are at the Animal Kingdom.  We decided that Animal Kingdom is not a park we wanted to visit a second time on this trip.  Loving Epcot as much as we do, it was an easy choice to visit here again, plus without having extra magic hours, it was a good excuse to sleep in a little and get some shopping done!

What new experiences will we encounter today-  Both of the new experiences we will have today are dining related.  We are eating at La Hacienda de San Angel and participating in Wind Down.

What is Wind Down?- Wind Down is an extra paid experience available on select nights at Epcot.  After Illuminations guests with reservations can head to one of three of the “lounges” where they can experience beverage flights and small plate entrees. We decided to do this #1 because it’s something we’ve never done before, and #2 we are looking forward to experiencing the park with very few guests in it.  There will be even fewer guests than during extra magic hours because its based on reservations.  Craig is really looking forward to doing nighttime photography with no one in the parks 🙂
