March 1st- Resolutions Follow Up

We are officially heading into the 3rd month of this year, so it’s time to check in with my New Years Resolutions.  I can honestly say that for some of them, it’s probably the longest that I’ve ever stuck with a resolution, while with others, I need to get my behind in gear!

Resolution #1- Be healthier in 2017.  With this resolution it was 2 fold… both being physically healthier by losing weight, and by being mentally healthier.  For the weight, I lost 13 pounds in January, but only 1 in February. While I am continuing in the right direction, I know that I could be better about logging my food, and I got sloppy in my food choices.  I know that I am more successful when I log my food because it holds me accountable.  I want to do better in March with this.  As for mental health, February was stressful with events at school, but I have been working on techniques for stress reduction.  Am I still a little nutty, absolutely… but mental health is a journey.

Resolution #2– BLOG MORE!  I have been making a genuine effort to be more consistent in my blogging this year, and I am succeeding!  In January I did 11 posts, and in February 12 posts!!  In addition to blogging more, Mr. Mouskaholic and I added a YouTube channel, as well as increased social media presence!  You can now subscribe to our YouTube Channel, Follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (Check out all the handles at the bottom of this post!)  I really want to keep up the momentum that I’ve built in the past two months as well as keep up with our monthly (for right now) YouTube posts!

Resolution #3- Earn more Swagbucks in 2017. February is a short month, but I still managed to earn $30 in gift cards towards our Disney vacation!  While that is behind last year’s average of $48 per month, overall, my yearly average is still a little higher than last year, at $52.50 per month so far!  If you are interested in learning more about how Swagbucks can help you save for your Disney trip, CLICK HERE.

Resolution #4- Continue to have new experiences at Disney in 2017- When I last posted at the end of January, I talked about new restaurants that we have reservations for.  In addition to trying new restaurants, we are VERY excited that Pandora will be opening at Animal Kingdom, and that the new Rivers of Light show will be available at Animal Kingdom when we’re down there!  The parks are always changing and we are excited for the new experiences!

Resolution #5- Book more trips with Charming Travels LLC- Super excited that I just booked another trip for an awesome family!  I love helping people plan their Disney vacations!  It brings me so much joy!

Resolution #6- Run a Half Marathon- I STILL haven’t even started to work on this goal yet.  I live in Ohio, so I will blame the weather lol!  I have gotten 13 pounds off so that’s less to carry around when I run. I did decide that I want to run the Akron Half Marathon and  maybe in March the weather will be better enough to start training!

So that’s my resolution update!  Here’s to keeping at it!  How are you doing on your resolutions?

Tuesday’s Tip- Using the Baby Centers at the parks

High chairs, changing stations, formula, baby food, and toddler sized toilets… these are all things that you can find at the Baby Care Centers at Walt Disney World’s four theme parks.  Disney World is a place for families, including those with young children.  To make travel easier for all families, they have these centers to accommodate those with younger children.

In each Baby Care Center you’ll find the following

  • Private rooms with rocking chairs for nursing mothers
  • Changing room with tables and a unisex bathroom
  • Feeding area with high chairs
  • Kitchen with a microwave, oven, and sink
  • Main room with television, table, chairs, and sofa
  • Toddler sized toilets
  • An on-site shop that offers formula, baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, over the counter medication, and clothing for purchase.

Where are these baby care centers located?

At the Magic Kingdom you’ll find the baby care center between Casey’s Corner and the Crystal Palace (just left of Main Street USA as you head towards Adventureland)

At Epcot you’ll find the baby care center in the Odyssey building.  This building is right in between future world, and Mexico, in the World Showcase.

At Animal Kingdom you’ll find the baby care center next to Pizzafari.  To to the left of the tree of life to get to Pizzafari, pass it, and it’ll be on the left.

At Hollywood Studios you’ll find the baby care center located in at the front of the park located in the guest relations building.

Worried about cleanliness?  No worries at all, each changing table is equipped with disposable paper liners, and dedicated Baby Center cast members will be ready with paper towels and other clean up supplies if necessary.

While you’re allowed to nurse your baby anywhere you like, these areas are air conditioned and equipped for all of your baby needs.  This includes pumping.  In each of  nursing rooms there are electrical outlets for you to plug in your pump.

Do you have an older child that you’re worried about what to do with them while you are taking care of the little one?  No worries, the toddler can relax in the small main lounge area.  On the tv you’ll find Disney movies, as well as books and coloring pages in the lounge area to keep them entertained.

Four Days- Four Restaurants

One of the most frequent questions that I am asked is what restaurants to get reservations at when at Walt Disney World.  There are SOOOO many amazing restaurants to try, but if you only have one day in each park, these are the restaurants that I would recommend.

(Note 1-there are AMAZING restaurants at the resorts as well that I LOVE, but for today we will pretend you only have one day in each park.  Note 2- There are lots of amazing quick service restaurants as well, but all of these are table service restaurants.)

Magic Kingdom- If you’ve only got the opportunity to check out one of the awesome restaurants, I recommend Crystal Palace.  I recommend it because it’s a buffet and has something for everyone, AND it is a character meal!  I’ve had breakfast and dinner at this location and both are delicious!  The characters at this location are Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet.

Epcot- There are more table service restaurants at Epcot than any other park.  Within the 11 different countries in the World Showcase alone, there is at least one table service restaurant per country (sometimes 2 depending on which country!).  I’ve eaten at many of the restaurants, but if I only had one day I would choose Via Napoli.  The pizza offerings are out of this world!  They serve traditional Neapolitan style pizza that is cooked in a wood burning oven.  They also serve other Italian dishes and appetizers.

Animal Kingdom-I have never had the opportunity to eat at a table service restaurant at Animal Kingdom (to be honest, 9 times out of 10 we have park hopper passes and usually do morning at AK and then go back Epcot for dinner!)  But if I were to eat at Animal Kingdom, I would go for Tusker House.  Tusker House is a buffet that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is a character meal featuring Safari Donald and his friends!

Hollywood Studios- My pick for Hollywood Studios is 50’s Prime Time Cafe.  I’ve eaten at 3 of the five table service restaurants at Hollywood Studios and this was by far my favorite!  Not only was the food outstanding, the atmosphere was really enjoyable.  It’s set up as if you’re in a 1950’s mom’s kitchen.  The food is homestyle cooking, and cellphones at the table and elbows on the table are not tolerated.

Day 2 in Review

Alright day 2, another great day at Disney (but lets face it, are there bad days at Disney?).  In our original plan I had us getting up around 6:45 or 7 and getting to Animal Kingdom by 8am for extra magic hours, but after nearly a 20 hour day on our first day we opted to sleep a little later!  We still caught the last 15 minutes of Extra Magic Hours, and were able to enjoy a nice short line at Starbucks!

We started out with our first fast pass for Kilimanjaro Safari, and lucked out with seeing a Rhino run, and seeing a male lion actually awake!  On all of our Safari rides we’ve yet to see a male lion, so yay!  Because we got on the Safari right after the park opened, we got off in plenty of time to make it over to the new Harambe Theater for the 10am showing of Festival of the Lion King!  What a great show!  It’s so exciting!

When the show was over we headed to Asia for my favorite Disney coaster- Expedition Everest!  On our way to our third and final fast pass we stopped for a free cup of water at the Yak and Yeti Local Food Cafe, and smelled some of their amazing foods!  We had planned to go to Flame Tree BBQ for lunch but ended up back at the Yak and Yeti for something new!  Their menu has an Asian flare as well a vegetarian option!  I had the chicken sandwich and Craig had the honey chicken.

After lunch we decided to head back to the resort for some relaxation! We enjoyed some time at the pool and some rest.  We love to take a break during the hottest parts of the afternoon to keep us fresh for the rest of the day!

Around 4pm we headed over to Epcot and jumped onto spaceship earth (only a 5 minute wait…SCORE!). After we had planned to head to test track and do the single rider line and it was down! That was a good thing though, it allowed us to try something new! We rode Ellen’s Universe of Energy for the first time! We generally hit our favorites and move on, but we’ve been trying hard to experience new things!

We had dinner at Biergarten restaurant in Germany! It’s one of my favorites!!! Great food and atmosphere! We did a little shopping and then found a great spot for illuminations!

And here are today’s mileage stats-

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 20 “Favorite Disney Stage Show”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

There have been many difficult decisions during this 30 day challenge for me, and today is NOT one of them!  My favorite stage show at Disney is the “Festival of the Lion King” at Animal Kingdom.

I love the energy, artistry, colors, and music of this show.  I feel like it is appealing to all ages, and is fun for all!  There are songs, dance, acrobatics, and of course the antics of Pumbaa and Timon!  If you’ve never seen this show, it’s a must see!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 7 “Favorite Animal Kingdom Ride”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

Animal Kingdom is another park where there are more “attractions” than actual rides. There are tons of beautiful animals to see as well as fabulous entertaining shows. When it comes down to rides, there is no question that “Expedition Everest” is my favorite ride in the Animal Kingdom Park (It may actually take the cake as my favorite Disney Coaster!)

I do wish they would have a fully functional Yeti in the ride, BUT it’s still a great thrill and a smooth coaster!
