Fun Fact Friday- The Disney Point

Did you know that all cast members are instructed to use two fingers when pointing something out to a guest?

There are two generally accepted answers as to why that is.

#1- In the style of Walt himself.   It is said that Walt would often point with two fingers because he generally had a cigarette in his hand.  Whether or not this is the true reason, we can’t be certain.  But in true Disney fashion of attention to detail, you can even see Tom Hanks using a two finger point when he played Walt in “Saving Mr. Banks”

#2- Politeness across cultures.  The more likely reason is that in some cultures it is rude to point with one finger.  With millions of park visitors each year, perhaps they opted to go with a non offensive point that translates well to people from many countries.
