30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 20 “Favorite Disney Stage Show”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

There have been many difficult decisions during this 30 day challenge for me, and today is NOT one of them!  My favorite stage show at Disney is the “Festival of the Lion King” at Animal Kingdom.

I love the energy, artistry, colors, and music of this show.  I feel like it is appealing to all ages, and is fun for all!  There are songs, dance, acrobatics, and of course the antics of Pumbaa and Timon!  If you’ve never seen this show, it’s a must see!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 19 “Favorite Disney Souvenir”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

I am a “frugal” person and rarely spend money on expensive souvenirs.  I will buy the occasional mug or tshirt, but rarely spend more than $35, because I don’t see the point in buying something that I’ll rarely use or don’t need.

My very favorite (and a little more that  I would normally spend) souvenir is the ring that I got at Epcot in January.  I participated in the pick a pearl area at Japan and then had my pearl set in a ring.  It consider this my favorite souvenir because it’s not just the ring itself, it’s the memory of the experience that came along with it!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 18 “Favorite Disney Memory”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

Okay, this may be one of my absolute silliest Disney stories that I have, but it is one of my favorite memories!

During my husbands very first Disney trip, in 2008 we only had 2 days to visit the park, and knowing that we only had the two days, I selected Hollywood Studios and Epcot.  I knew that my husband would love the World Showcase and seeing all the cultures, so we spent a lot of time in each country.  We started in Mexico and eventually made our way to Canada.

We were crossing the bridge between France and the United Kingdom (Fun Fact, the water under that bridge is representative of the English Channel!!!)  As we were crossing the bridge we passed a Father and a little boy who I would estimate to be about 8 years old.  As we passed the little boy exclaimed “Daddy I farted!”   Craig and I stifled our laughter until they were out of ear shot, but we just thought it was so funny!  Now EVERY single time we cross the bridge between France and the UK we look at each other and say “Daddy I farted.”   Is it a dumb thing to remember yes, but it makes us laugh 🙂

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 17 “Favorite Non-Park Experience”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

There are tons of great experiences to be had both in the parks and outside of the parks.

By far my favorite experience was going to Downtown Disney and Raglan Road with my Mom and my Aunt during our trip this past January.  This was an incredibly special trip for me.  I was traveling for the RunDisney Marathon weekend, and my husband didn’t have enough vacation time to travel with me.  I decided to invite my Mom and Aunt to go with me, and I’m so glad that I did.  It had been 15 years since my Mom’s last trip to Disney, and my Aunt had never been to Disney.

My Aunt has always had an affinity for the culture of the United Kingdom.  So when I knew we were going to spend time at Downtown Disney I made sure to make reservations for Raglan Road (Click Here to read my review of Raglan Road).

For me the greatest joy was watching my Aunt enjoy the Irish food, beverages, and dancing at Raglan Road.  We were seated right by the stage and had a perfect view!

Sometimes the greatest pleasures at Disney come from spending time with family and making memories that last a life time.  Don’t be afraid to spend time away from the parks, and slow down and enjoy.

Here is a video of some of the dancing we saw at Raglan Road (did I mention we had amazing seats!)

And just because, here is a video of my Aunt as we were leaving enjoying the live music outside the restaurant

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 16 “Favorite Downtown Disney Location”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

There is SO much to do and see (and eat!) at Downtown Disney, but hands down my favorite location at Downtown Disney is the “World of Disney.”  I know yesterdays was “Favorite Gift Shop” and I purposefully left World of Disney off my list, because I was saving it for today!  It is massive and an amazing spot to find just about anything you could want to find that is Disney themed!  I think that World of Disney is the essence of Downtown Disney, and I can’t imagine going to DD without a visit to that store!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 15 “Favorite Gift Shop”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

I really should have pluralized a bunch of the categories on the list, because today is yet another hard decision for me.  With that being said, I think I’m going to have to go with favorite gift “shops” instead of just one shop.  So, away we go!

Magic Kingdom- The Emporium is my favorite gift shop there.  It is the largest gift shoppe at Magic Kingdom and has a little bit of everything.  There isn’t a real specific theme to the shop, just a lot of Disney apparel, mugs, Mickey Ears, and general touristy souvenirs. I love to stroll through the Emporium on a hot day to escape the heat for a little while and just check out what they have to offer 🙂

Epcot- Mitsukoshi Department Store, is fabulous.  It is located in the World Showcase’s Japan Pavilion.  It is HUGE and there is a ton to look at.  It has a lot of nick nacks, and is just really fun to check out.  They have a wide assortment of Japanese snacks and candy, which is always fun to try, as well as a spot to purchase sake flights.  Perhaps my favorite part is watching someone pick a pearl!  Click here to read my post (and watch a video) of me picking my pearl in January!

Hollywood Studios- Tatooine Traders is the gift shop at the end of the Star Tours ride.  I LOVE Star Wars, and this gift shop is like geek haven.  I always end up buying a t-shirt for my brother and saving it for his Christmas gift 🙂  Oh and for added fun, build your own lightsaber!

Downtown Disney Disney’s Days of Christmas is located in the Marketplace at Downtown Disney and is a must stop place for me on each trip.  My husband and I have a tree in our living room and all the ornaments are Black, White, Maroon, and Silver (the colors in the room).  It is stunningly beautiful, and every trip we make to Disney, we love to look through this store to find a new ornament for our tree!  It is a little difficult at times to find one that fits the theming of the tree, but that makes each one more special and unique! (Click Here to view my ornaments purchased at Disney’s Days of Christmas)

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 14 “Favorite Table Service Restaurant”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

With SO many different options to choose from this is a very another difficult choice to narrow down.  I’ve had some amazing meals at all of the parks.  They all bring something unique to the table (pun intended).  Many offer unique experiences with entertainment, or characters, and some just dazzle with amazing food, and atmosphere.

We try every visit to experience new dining, and I have certainly not been to every restaurant.  I’ve been to quite a few, but not all of them.  The location that we visited last summer that has stood out in my mind is Biergarten in Germany.  We loved the live entertainment that happened during the meal.  It was fun to watch people abandon their seats and get up and polka with the live band!  We also enjoyed the seating.  We were seated with another family and had the opportunity to visit with them and get to chat.  (This isn’t for everyone, but we really enjoyed it)  and then there is the FOOD!!!!  It’s a buffet, so you get the chance to try many different foods, and if you don’t like something you’re not stuck with it.  I enjoyed just about everything I tried!

While we try to visit as many new restaurants as we can on each trip, this is one that we are revisiting on our upcoming trip because we enjoyed it so much last time!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 13 “Favorite Quick Service Restaurant”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

Today is another tough choice.  Walt Disney World is sprawling with places to eat, many of them being quick service locations.  I am going to highlight a few of my favorites, just because there are SO many options between the parks, and resorts.

Magic Kingdom- Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe.  If you’re on the dining plan, you can’t beat their chicken and ribs combo at dinner time.  The cost is about $16, and by the time you add in your dessert and drink you’re easily looking at a $21 value.  The meal is HUGE and very sharable if you’re one who likes to share your quick service credits.  This location also has indoor seating which is a plus when it’s hot outside and you want to sit in the AC.  There is also animatronic entertainment in the seating area.  It’s always fun to watch “Sonny Eclipse” with his stand up comedy and music!

Sonny Eclipse

Hollywood Studios- ABC Commissary.  I love this location because it has a unique selection of food.  Many locations have your typical hamburger, hotdog, and chicken fingers.  ABC has unique selections Salmon, Steak, Shrimp (Yes this is a quick service location!!!) Salads, and a unique twist on burgers.  Another perk here again is the indoor seating and air conditioning.

I know this isn’t at WDW, but the best meal that I’ve ever consumed at a quick service location was at Disney’s California Adventure Park- Flo’s V8 Cafe.  When I visited in 2012, the Radiator Springs part of DCA was brand new, and was just WONDERFULLY details!  I loved every part of it, and we made sure that eating in radiator springs was part of the plan!  I am going to have to make this my #1 choice as far as best quick service location I’ve eaten at.  I had the turkey breast meal.

The best quick service meal that I’ve enjoyed from a resort was at Pop Century’s court-“Everything Pop.”  They have unique selections at all times of the day, including a breakfast sandwich that uses pop-tarts as the bun.  I enjoyed lunch there during my last stay, and it was delicious (I had just run a 1/2 marathon too, so I was REALLY hungry!)  I had their turkey sandwich (Oven-roasted Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Cornbread Stuffing, Cranberry Mayonnaise, and Watercress on Texas Toast served cold with House-made Chips, Pasta Salad, or Coleslaw)… my mouth just watered thinking about it again!  It was so yummy!

With so many choices at WDW and DL you really can’t go wrong!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 12 “Favorite World Showcase Country”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

Within the 1.2 miles of the World Showcase at Epcot there are 11 countries, and something for just about everyone.  There are shows, attractions, live music, shopping, and enough food and drink to make anyone want to be rolled out of Epcot!

For me, I love just about EVERYTHING in the World Showcase, and think that each country’s pavilion is special and unique in its own way.  This maybe the hardest decision I’ve made yet in the 30 day challenge.  My top two finalists are Mexico and Japan, and after much consideration, I’ve concluded that Mexico is my favorite pavilion.

580B9888

There are several reasons that Mexico is my favorite-

* There is a ride.  Many of the pavilions do not have a ride, rather a movie or other attractions.  The ride may be a little cheesy, BUT it’s one of my husbands favorites, and I just love watching him get excited about it!  (Added bonus there is never a line for the ride!)

* The inside of the pavilion is just beautiful.  I love the feeling of the open air market and how it is set up with individual “puestos” or stands.

oi-disney-epcot-trip-report-july-2011-4160

* There are two amazing table service restaurants, as well as a quick service restaurant in this location. (To read my review of San Angel Inn and La Hacienda de San Angel, Click Here)

* La Cava del Tequila offers the best margaritas on Disney property (at least in my opinion!)  I love love love margaritas.  They are probably my all time favorite libation.  They have an amazing pineapple margarita that I look forward to on every trip!  They offer flights of tequila and small plates (for a more intimate experience check out “Wind Down” at La Cava del Tequila.)  AND Neil Patrick Harris is a semi-frequent visitor at La Cava.  It is my dream to meet him there sometime haha!

* Inside La Cava del Tequila there is a really cool mural that shows the process of how Tequila is made, and there is a representative from Tequila Mexico on hand who will explain the process of how tequila is made from the agave plants.  I think it is fascinating, and a great cultural experience.

mural

* In addition to all the fabulous things you can see inside there pyramid, there are additional puestos outside as well as meet and greets with Donald Duck (my hubby’s favorite character) and live mariachi music.

I think this is one of the most well rounded countries in the world showcase!  There is so much to do and see!  Amazing food, amazing drinks, culture… this pavilion has it all!

30 Day Disney Challenge- Day 11 “Favorite Disney Couple”

Confessions of a Mouskaholic's 30 Day Disney Challenge

Confessions of a Mouskaholic’s 30 Day Disney Challenge

Alright, there are lots of Disney Movies, and lots of options, making this one an incredibly hard decision!  This is another one where I had to break it into two categories, Animated and Live Action.

For my animated favorite couple, I think the absolute cutest has to be Lady and the Tramp.  Who can forget that classic spaghetti kiss, and how he rolls her the last meatball!  I’m gonna count to three, and I want a collective “Awwww!”  1… 2… 3… Awwwwwwwww!!!!!  It’s just so cute!  I also love when the stamp their paw prints on the side walk!  Actually the next time you’re at the Magic Kingdom, stop by Tony’s Town Square, and look for their paw prints on the side walk!

For Live Action Disney films, my favorite couple is Cliff and Jenny from the Rocketeer.  Their relationship has its fair amount of conflict, but in the end Cliff (The Rocketeer) saves the day and gets the girl!  (Side note, if you’ve never seen this movie, I’m going to have to insist that you see it, it’s loaded with action of course the underlying love story!
