Fun Fact Friday- Beauty and the Beast

Here is a fun fact related to a Disney Park AND and treasured Disney Movie!

Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage opened at “Theater of the Stars” along Sunset Boulevard at MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) on November 22, 1991.  Okay so I get it, you’re thinking what is the big deal… well the unique piece of trivia is that November 22, 1991 was the exact same day that the movie Beauty and the Beast opened in theaters across the United States.  This was the first time ever that a stage show opened the same day as the movie that inspired it.

The 25 minute stage show has been running multiple shows daily for nearly 26 years now!  If you’re a Beauty and the Beast fan be sure to check out the show next time you’re at Hollywood Studios.

Words of Walt- Progress

“The age we’re living in is the most extraordinary the world has ever seen.  There are whole new concepts of things, and we now have the tools to change these concepts into realities. We’re moving forward.  In terms of my work, I believe people want to know about this universe that keeps unfolding before them.  But let’s be clear about one thing-  I’m not trying to teach anything to anybody.   I want to entertain the public.”

What is mind boggling to me is how much the world and technology has changed since Walt’s passing in 1966.  51 years later I think the world would be unrecognizable to Walt, yet Disney continues to push the boundaries with technology and entertainment.  I like to think that in that regard Walt would be happy.

Words of Walt- Adversity

“All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles have strengthened me.”

While the name Walt Disney is a household name these days, he didn’t have the easiest start.  He grew up with a harsh father, was fired from several of his early jobs, struggled financially in his early business years, and had just as many failures as he did successes; but Walt never gave up.  From each of his failures he learned and moved on.  When one thinks of Walt Disney we often don’t think of his failures, but his successes and the empire that he laid the base for.

Musical Monday- Star Wars Medley

If you’ve been following my blog for any length of time (regardless of my frequent hiatuses), you’ll know that when I post a “Musical Monday” that I rarely post a plain video.  I like to find ones out there are unique and by YouTubers with true talent.  Today I’d like to highlight an awesome video of a Star Wars Medley that is played in an uncommon way… On PVC pipes.  To me this is YouTube meets Blue Man Group, meets Star Wars.

If you’re interested, check out his other videos, he really is talented 🙂

Doc Hudson’s Voice in Cars 3

Cars 3 has taken the nation by storm as the number 1 comedy in America the past two weeks.  Mr. Mouskaholic and I have seen it twice already and we loved it!

As much as we loved it I sat in the theater wondering the entire time, how did they do Doc Hudson’s voice?  In the original Cars movie came out in 2006, Doc Hudson was voiced by Paul Newman.  Newman passed away at the age 83 in 2008.  With the story line of Cars 2, it wasn’t really necessary to “resurrect” the voice of Doc.  However Cars 3’s storyline relies on Doc Hudson’s character (that’s all I’ll say, no spoilers!).  So as I sat in the theater, I thought WOW, whoever they got to do the voice of Doc Hudson sounds A LOT like Paul Newman!  I immediately got on IMDB.com after the movie to see who they got to replace Newman, and much to my surprise it listed Paul Newman as the voice of Doc.

Now some of the lines that Doc Hudson says in Cars 3 are recycled from the original, but there are other new lines that Doc has in the newest film.  So how did they do it?  Well John Lasseter was definitely thinking ahead.  Paul Newman was quite the story teller, so whenever they weren’t officially recording, they kept the tapes rolling per John Lasseter’s requests.  They ended up with 28 additional hours of recordings of the late Newman that they were able to pull from to use as the voice of the “Fabulous Hudson Hornet.”  In addition to the 28 hours of recordings Pixar had on file, they were also able to contact the Newman Foundation for additional archived recordings.  Pretty amazing stuff right!

April 1st Follow Up- New Year’s Resolution

We are officially heading into the 4th month of this year and I can’t believe how quickly 2017 is going!  It’s just zooming by!  It’s time to check in with my New Years Resolutions. I can honestly say that for some of them, it’s probably the longest that I’ve ever stuck with a resolution, while with others, I need to get my behind in gear!

Resolution #1- Be healthier in 2017.  With this resolution it was 2 fold… both being physically healthier by losing weight, and by being mentally healthier.  For the weight, I was off to a great start.  At one point I was down 13 pounds… alas, I quit trying os hard, went back to my old eating habits and gained about 5 pounds back.  My goal for April is to get back on track with my food journaling!  For my mental health, I’ve had some great experiences and breakthroughs as well as some set backs. I’m really coming to the conclusion that for me my mental health is going to be an ongoing journey.

Resolution #2– BLOG MORE!  I have been making a genuine effort to be more consistent in my blogging this year, and I am succeeding!  In January I did 11 posts,  12 posts in February, and 15 in the month of March!!!  In addition to blogging more, Mr. Mouskaholic and I added a YouTube channel back in February as well as increased social media presence!  You can now subscribe to our YouTube Channel, Follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (Check out all the handles at the bottom of this post!)  I really want to keep up the momentum that I’ve built in the past two months as well as keep up with our monthly (for right now) YouTube posts!

Resolution #3- Earn more Swagbucks in 2017. In March was $60 (double the amount of what I earned in February of this year).  That is ahead of last year’s average of $48 per month and overall my yearly average is still a little higher than last year, at $55.00 per month so far!  If you are interested in learning more about how Swagbucks you can go back and check out my 3 day series that I published in the middle of March!

Resolution #4- Continue to have new experiences at Disney in 2017- Okay, so we know that Pandora will be opening at Animal Kingdom, so that will be a new experience.  I am also looking forward to “Happily Ever After,” the new night show at Magic Kingdom!

Resolution #5- Book more trips with Charming Travels LLC- I was able to book a VERY last minute trip for a family in March, as well as some other trips that had been booked for a while!  With the new summer specials that came out I am hoping to get my summer sales up, while saving some money for my clients!!

Resolution #6- Run a Half Marathon- I STILL haven’t even started to work on this goal yet.  The weather is finally getting nice though, so I’m running out of excuses to start trying.  I am thinking this month I will register for a 5k to motivate myself and get in gear!  This should also help with goal #1 of being healthier!

So that’s my resolution update!  Here’s to keeping at it!  How are you doing on your resolutions?
